Abdul J. Roberts, Esq., a Partner at Jalloh and Jalloh, LLC is an experienced complex general litigator in both criminal and civil matters with a current practice area of Criminal Defense, Municipality and Government Defense, Personal Injury, Real Estate, Family Law (Custody, Family Offense Petitions, Qualified Domestic Relations Orders, etc.), Cannabis Law, Medical Malpractice, Healthcare law, Labor and Employment, Business Formation, and representation of service-members in UCMJ proceedings. Currently, Abdul also serves as General Counsel for Black Micro, Inc.
Prior to joining Jalloh and Jalloh, LLC, Abdul served in the United States Army Judge Advocate General (JAG) Corps and worked in private practice. In his previous private practice, he focused primarily on government fraud investigations and other criminal and civil healthcare law related issues. In addition, he represented healthcare providers in other administrative actions such as licensure board complaints, government subpoenas, payor audits and overpayment demand, PIPCA and out of network arbitrations, Office of the Inspector General (“OIG”) suspensions and exclusions, and CMS suspension and revocation of billing privileges. In this role Abdul also advised clients on employee related practices, policies, and discipline.
During his time as Active Duty Solider in JAG, Abdul advised senior commanders and Agency Departments on an array of administrative and operational matters such as Freedom of Information Act (“FOIA”), Whistle Blower Protections, administrative investigations, fiscal regulations, agency policy formation and implementation, Labor and Employment (civilian and servicemembers), and environmental law related issues.
However, Abdul’s practice predominately focused on the representation of the Government or Soldiers in adverse administrative employment actions (Article 15s, GOMOR drafting and rebuttals, OER/NCOER Rebuttals, Show Cause Boards, Administrative Separation, etc.), appeals for the same, and at all levels of criminal Courts-Martials. Abdul also served as both a Trial Defense Counsel and prosecutor where he handled felony federal criminal offenses for a range of offenses from simple battery to rape of a minor. Abdul has successfully defended and received full acquittals in cases for a range of offenses such as rape and sexual assault, violations of general orders, and simple drug use and possession. Although no longer an active-duty Soldier, Abdul continues to represent service-members from all services with any adverse action against them by their Command.
Abdul graduated cum laude with his Juris Doctor from North Carolina Central University School of Law. Prior to attending NCCU School of Law, Abdul graduated cum laude from the University of South Carolina – Columbia. In his free time Abdul enjoys traveling with his partner (Rhonika) and dog (Zeek), exercising, and volunteering with his fraternity brothers of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc.
